Discussion of Big Meadow Stargaze (BMSG)-September 26-27
The event will be similar in scope to last year. Of concern is the need for volunteers, and the limited
number of people in our club with time to help. It was decided to keep the event rather small and
informal so our club can adequately handle the tasks involved in planning and running the event. We came up with a sign-up sheet listing the tasks that need to be done either before or during the BMSG. It will be passed around at upcoming meetings for volunteers to sign. Anyone wishing to help can sign up at the meetings or contact Myron at 972-3290
Status of Club and Poor Attendance at General Meetings
We all acknowledged the sad attendance at meetings lately and identified possible reasons. They include, but are probably not limited to lack of programs, lack of a newsletter, and poor publicity about meeting times and locations. We have decided to try and restart the newsletter. It was felt if it was kept small and contained information about the club and articles written by members, it would be more interesting to read. It will contain articles about club members, as well as the topics on observing, buying telescopes, and other items suggested by members. Tom has agreed to put it together on a monthly basis, and requests articles be sent to him for inclusion. If our club is going to survive, we need input and submissions from you-the RAC membership!
Club Picnic
Our annual club picnic will be held at Caledon on Saturday, July 26 beginning at 4PM. As in years past, the RAC will provide the food. Afterwards we will have our monthly starparty-so bring your telescope!
Treasurers Reports
The importance of having regular treasurer reports was mentioned by Myron-especially since we will be pursuing tax-exempt status in the near future. Myron will be working with Bill on the matter of the reports. Tom Pendergrass offered to help as well if necessary.
Respectfully submitted,
Myron Wasiuta
Secretary, RAC
