4/18 Star Party
It was a beautiful, warm spring day, and although overcast spread in through the early evening, it cleared up once the sun went down. In attendance were two club members and two visitors who arrived after 9 p.m. Using the club’s 8″ reflector, we were able to observe M67 (open cluster) and M44 (Beehive Open Cluster) in the constellation Cancer. We also observed the Orion Nebula, Jupiter, and Venus. The seeing was about average but the cloud bands on Jupiter were very clear. We started off with a bit of photography of Jupiter both with the camera directly connected to the telescope and then through an eyepiece. Overall, it was a good evening…Scott
