Elizabethan Astronomy at Virginia Renaissance Faire
I brought the science of astronomy into the 16th century, kicking and screaming, at the Virginia Renaissance Faire on the weekends of May 9- June 7. I enjoyed it, though there were some hot sweaty days out there. It’s all worth it when people come by with a real interest. I had a Rappahannock Astronomy Club table and portrayed Thomas Digges, who translated Copernicus into English, so I presented an orbital game to demonstrate how the Copernican theory of the solar system explains what you can see with your own eyes better than the ancient Greek theory. Thanks to everybody who visited. – Glenn
