Star party cancelled, but program is on tonight

Rappahannock Astronomy Club Posted on July 22, 2017 by Glenn HollidayJuly 22, 2017

The weather forecast is overcast with a chance of storms tonight (Saturday July 22 2017). Tonight’s star party is cancelled because we won’t be able to see anything. But the program, How To Blow Up A Star, is still on. At Caledon State Park picnic pavillion at 8pm.

Note if we get a thunderstorm the park will cancel the program. I’ll try to give an update if that happens, but that call would be at the last minute.

Stratford Hall Star Party

Rappahannock Astronomy Club Posted on May 6, 2017 by Glenn HollidayMay 11, 2017

Stratford Hall’s Star Party is going to be a big event, with stars Saturday evening and the Sun Sunday morning. RAC will present Your Next Home — Mars before dark Saturday. It looks like Sunday morning will feature an encounter between a Renaissance astronomer (yay heliocentrism!) and a Colonial astronomer (yay telescopes!). Check out the Stratford Hall Flyer for the May 6-7 Star Party. Sunday morning is a for-fee event; Scout groups may camp for a discount fee. Hope everybody can come out.
