Ex Astris Scientia
I saw the news today of Leonard Nimoy’s death. Spock taught the 10-year-old me in 1966 that it was OK to like science.
The title Ex Astris Scientia (from the stars, knowledge) is a good motto for astronomers, but also happens to be the motto of Starfleet Academy. (And Trek apocrypha suggests Spock was the first Vulcan graduate of that fine school.)
