Historical astronomy at Virginia Renaissance Faire
For those who think astronomy is fun, the ways we did astronomy 500 years ago is fun, and Renn Faires are fun, the Virginia Renaissance Faire this season features two different shows themed on Renaissance astronomy, both presented by Rappahannock Astronomy Club member Glenn Holliday. The morning show is “The Earth is flat, disproved” and the afternoon show is “Thank astronomy for everything”, meaning the technological advances of the Renaissance were grounded in astronomical advances.
The Faire runs Saturdays and Sundays through June 9. More info here. The Faire is a nonprofit educational foundation, and our club has been doing astronomy with them for some years.
