Star party CANCELLED for tonight June 29 2019
This is one of those frustrating mornings when the weather forecasts for tonight’s scheduled star party at Caledon are all over the place. It will certainly be partly cloudy, with a small chance of rain and thunderstorms. National Weather Service says chance of rain will increase through the evening to 30%, while the Weather Channel says the chance of rain remains steady at 15%. All sources say the cloud cover will increase as it gets later. It might or might not become fully overcast by midnight.
We are just after the Summer Solstice, and astronomical twilight does not end (we get full dark) till 10:30 tonight. It looks likely that sky conditions will be worse by the time the sky is fully dark. Though we will probably get glimpses of the sky between the clouds, I’ve decided most of us are more likely to be unhappy with the sky conditions tonight. The planned star party is CANCELLED.
Hope to see you under better skies in July.
